Tara Gereaux reads from her latest novel Wild People Quiet. Then it’s Patrick deWitt in conversation with Laurie Brown. DeWitt’s new book is called Dodge City, and it is a witty and weird tale of an amphetamine-fueled roadtrip across the continental United States by a young man dodging the draft and bidding goodbye to the country of his birth—and his fraying family—along the way.

  • Patrick deWitt is the author of six novels, including Dodge City. Born in British Columbia, he now lives in Portland, Oregon.

  • Laurie Brown has built a reputation as an accomplished interviewer, writer and seasoned broadcaster for TV (CityTV, CBC’s The National and CBC’s Newsworld), radio (CBCMusic’s The Signal) and for 7 years, as a podcaster with Pondercast, which featured Laurie’s original essays that straddled philosophy, culture, science and spirituality all with original music by Joshua Van Tassel. Intensely human and intimate, she built a loyal following for Pondercast through Patreon.

  • Tara Gereaux is the author of three books, most recently, Wild People Quiet. She holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of British Columbia and is the recipient of the City of Regina Writing Award, the Colleen and Allan Bailey Memorial Fund from the Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts, and a REVEAL Indigenous Art Award from the Hnatyshyn Foundation. From the Qu'Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan, she is a citizen of Métis Nation-Saskatchewan and resides in Regina on Treaty 4 territory.
